About Audrey

Canadian artist, Audrey Lawson, paints bold and vibrant oil paintings and dreamy watercolours. Toronto Painter

Audrey Lawson is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans abstract oil painting and poetic watercolours. With a practice rooted in intuition and emotional honesty, her work explores cycles of renewal, the quiet power of transformation, and the tension between softness and strength.

Born and based in Canada, Lawson studied fine art at Concordia University and Parsons School of Design. Her early training in drawing and design continues to inform her layered, expressive style. Her watercolour series often explore themes of rebirth and optimism, while her abstract works reflect a deeper emotional tide—gestural, immersive, and intuitive.

Audrey’s creative process is intimately tied to her everyday life, with rituals, motherhood, and moments of stillness influencing both subject and rhythm. She believes beauty is a form of truth, and painting is a way to hold that truth gently, even when it’s shifting.

Her work is held in private collections throughout North America and has been featured in interiors that value not only visual impact, but emotional resonance.

Audrey Lawson is a Canadian painter living in Toronto. She paints one of a kind bright and bold abstracts. She is currently taking commissions.

Inspiration

My process is intuitive, often guided by the energy and rhythm I feel within myself, resulting in works that carry a raw, emotional charge."

  • “My work is inspired by my own experiences and emotional journeys. For example, in my Black Paintings series, I was processing a darker period in my life, where I sought to express the balance of light emerging from darkness. Similarly, my Tides series explores themes of renewal and resilience, drawing from personal reflections on life’s natural cycles.”

  • “My process is highly intuitive. I don’t know exactly how a piece will evolve. I allow my emotions, the materials, and the rhythms of the painting itself to guide me. There are moments when I feel completely in tune with the canvas, and other times when I step back to reflect before continuing. This fluidity is an essential part of my work—it’s about trusting the process and letting it reveal itself.”

  • “I do sell my work. People interested in a painting usually contact me after seeing my work on Instagram. I have also done many commissions. Please feel free to reach out with all inquiries. I am always happy to talk paint!
